Celery has long been underestimated in the hierarchy of vegetables and has been doomed to the life of a seasoning in too many a fridge. Despite its underdog status in our culinary hearts, it has remarkable heath benefits. Juicing gives celery the opportunity to showcase its talents as a genuine health food.

Loaded with Nutrients

All parts of the celery stalk are edible. The stem contains Vitamins B1, B2, B6 and C, potassium, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, and essential amino acids. The leaves are high in vitamin A.

Juicing is the easiest and arguably the tastiest way to consume all of those nutrients in sufficient quantities to make a difference to your health. Cooking greatly diminishes the quality of the vitamins and minerals available in vegetables and fruits.

Health Benefits

Research shows that celery contains coumarin and other cancer fighting compounds that prevent the growth of tumors and prevent free-radicals from damaging cells. These compounds help to prevent the development of colon and stomach cancers.

Celery is full of nutritious fiber released during juicing that relaxes nerves making bowel movements easier and flushing out toxins.

Raw celery has also been found to contain a chemical that can reduce LDL cholesterol, or bad cholesterol, levels by as much as 7 points just by eating 2 stalks a day.

The potassium and sodium in celery combine to make a perfectly balanced electrolyte regulator. So you can skip the sports drink and juice and combine another fruit or vegetable to make a delicious and powerful sports drink.

The nerve calming chemicals in celery also relieve inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, asthma, and bronchitis.

Drinking celery juice regularly can significantly lower blood pressure.  Its relaxing properties relax the muscles around the arteries allowing blood to flow smoothly. It also reduces stress hormones that cause blood vessels to constrict and raise blood pressure.

Benefits of Juicing

You get the most out of this healthy vegetable by juicing. Try it with apple, carrot, tomato, or leafy greens of your choice. Its subtle flavor blends well to make either a savory or sweet nutritious drink.
