🌱 Growing Tips:
Yaupon holly seeds have a natural dormancy and benefit from cold stratification (placing seeds in moist sand or soil in the refrigerator for 30–60 days before planting). This greatly improves germination success.
Plant in well-drained soil and water consistently during early growth. Once established, yaupon is extremely drought-tolerant and low-maintenance. It can be pruned into hedges, small trees, or left natural for a wild, native look.
Leaves can be harvested, dried, and roasted to create a traditional yaupon tea, the only naturally caffeinated plant native to North America.
